Ha Nam, a province in the Red River delta, is a part of the metropolitan area planning. . The North borders Hanoi City, a specially important center of economy, culture and education in Vietnam; Hung Yen to the East; Nam Dinh and Ninh Binh to the South; Hoa Binh province to the west; it is 1.5 hours from Noi Bai International Airport and 2 hours from Hai Phong Port by car.
As a traffic hub, Ha Nam has the advantage of expanding economic cooperation and exchanges with other localities in the whole country, especially with Hanoi capital and the provinces in the northern key economic region.
Socio-economic situation
In the period 2011 - 2016, the socio-economic has made very powerful and has achieved important results.
Gross regional domestic product (GRDP) has been increased by an average of 13.05%/year. GRDP per capita in 2016 reached $ 2,200. Economic structure strongly shift towards industrial construction and reducing agricultural economics (in 2016: construction industry covered 59.6%, services 21.7%; agriculture, forestry and fisheries 13.2%).
By September 2017, the whole province had 705 valid investment projects, with the registered capital of over $ 6.2 billion, of which there were 198 FDI projects with the total registered capital of $ 2.23 billion. Particularly in the industrial zones, there were 278 valid investment projects with the total registered capital of $ 2.8 billion of which there were 165 FDI projects with the total registered capital of $ 2.05 billion.
